Kojo Akatsuki (暁 古城, Akatsuki Kojō)

Kojou Akatsuki is the male protagonist of the story. He is the older brother of Nagisa Akatsuki and the childhood friend of Yuuma Tokoyogi. Although he appears to be a normal high school student studying in Saikai Academy, he is actually the fourth primogenitor; the strongest vampire in existence, an immortal demon thought only to exist in legends. He became a vampire and the fourth primogenitor only three months before the beginning of the story. For much of the story, he cannot remember how he became a vampire and gets an intense headache when he attempts to. Yukina Himeragi is sent from the Lion King Organization to observe him and to eliminate him if he is deemed dangerous.Kojou is 16 years old at the beginning of the story. He has dark silver-blue hair and blue eyes which turn red when he is either aroused or angered. He is usually seen wearing the Saikai Academy school uniform which consists of a white button up shirt and black pants. He also wears a blue under shirt and a white hoodie. Since he is a vampire and tends to avoid daylight, he has fair skin. He has well-toned muscles and a "well-endowed" body.Kojou is a kind, empathetic person, who goes out of his way to help others. He is also an intelligent, sly and carefree individual. When angered, Kojou becomes quite fearsome adversary. Kojou has indomitable willpower, supernaturally strong charisma which has attracted the attention of both admirers and allies, allowing him to even befriend his enemies. Kojou is shown to care and worry about his sister a lot. He is however generally oblivious to the romantic feelings that others have of him due to his strong siscon nature.Kojou was a normal human until he first met Avrora the 12th Kaleid Blood and became her blood servant, a pseudo vampire. Since then, he spent his daily life with her but those days didn't last long until she ordered him to destroy her and became the fourth primogenitor. In addition, he lost his memories regarding the incident and the days they spent together. However, he later regained some portions of it after fighting Giada, the third primogenitor disguised as Avrora using the No.14 Grimoire in attempt to recover his lost memories. He fully regained his memories alongside Asagi after Yukina performed a ritual on them.He first met Yuuma when he was trying to retrieve Nagisa's hat which was stuck on a branch at the end of a cliff. He looked for Yuuma at her regular spot where she used to hide and watch both siblings everyday and asked for her help. Without waiting for a respond he quickly grabbed her hand and got back the hat together. However, after they did so Kojou nearly fell off the cliff only to be saved by her, he later thanked her and said that she's pretty strong. A while later after everyone introduced themselves. He first met Motoki and Asagi during middle school.He first met Avrora at Fairy's Coffin. Kojou used his body to protect his sister and Avrora from the terrorist attack leaving him on the verge of death. Avrora admired his courage and turned Kojou into her blood servant. Avrora ordered him to destroy her alongside "Root" and chose him as the 12 Kaleid Blood's successor.When Kojou was in middle school, he participated in his school's basketball club and seemed to have performed very well, winning a city championship and Most Valuable Player. However, Kojou's skills were so high that it became nearly impossible for his other teammates to keep up with him and eventually gave up, leaving it to Kojou to win the games for them. During one game, Kojou was trying to score a point when one of his opponents attempted to stop him with a foul. As a result, both Kojou and the opposing player were injured. Kojou was so shaken by this incident that, shortly after, he quit the basketball club. Even though he isn't part of the club anymore, he is still sometimes shown playing basketball in the light novels and anime. ABILITIES: Despite being relaxed, he has repeatedly shown himself to be very intelligent, intelligent and quick to learn; Although these traits are not usually shown because they tend to charge without thinking, but can be impressively logical, observational, deductive and tactical. These traits made him an excellent leader. Enhanced Vampiric Abilities: Kojou possesses supernatural strength, durability, agility, consciousness, speed, senses, regenerative abilities, pheromones, endurance and immortality. Being the Fourth Primogenitor, his incredible powers are far above most vampires. Kojou is absolutely immortal, which means that he does not get old or sick and will recover quickly from any damage he receives, even from discarding or complete incineration. Familiar Summoning: Kojou has twelve familiars who are manifestations of his vampire's powers. Initially, these familiars would not obey Kojou completely and would often go crazy. This is due to the fact that he refused to drink human blood and, therefore, would not recognize him as their master. However, he was able to control his familiars and summon them properly once he drank blood. Cleansing: A phenomenon that alters the laws of physics and magic, fundamentally allowing its user to warp reality.

FAMILIARS:

First Familiar: Mesarthim Adamas (Aries Prote / The Divine Sheep of Adamantine)- The means to awaken this familiar was Kanon. It is a sheep with more than ten thousand diamonds that cover its entire body. This familiar is able to manipulate diamonds. It is able to disperse or scatter them like shotguns and form shields that reflect various attacks and abilities, which makes it well balanced in attack and defense. The diamonds are strong enough to block the ability to eat the dimension from Al-Meissa Mercury. First appears in Season 2 Episode 5.

Second Familiar: COR TAURI SUCINUM (Taurus Deutera / The Ox Headed King Of Amber)- Familiar of amber with an ox head, whose body is composed of lava. It has a body of more than 10 meters high and carries an even larger battle axe. Manipulates both lava and tectonic plates, but it mainly attacks in close quarters. The medium for this familiar was Glenda.

Third Familiar: AL-MEISSA MERCURY (Gemini Tritos / The Serpentine Dragon of Mercury)- This is the third familiar shown in the series. Kojou took control of it after drinking both Yukina's and La Folia's blood. It is a double-headed serpent dragon that is also called the Dimension Eater. This familiar is capable of eating space itself along with the dimension. It is able to destroy Angel-Faux Divine Oscillation barrier. This is one of Kojou's most dangerous familiars as it can even leave severed space after its attack which may pose danger for third parties.

4th Familiar: NATRA-CINEREUS (Cancer Tetartos / The Carapace of Silver Mist) The medium for this familiar is Sayaka and Yuuma. It is a silver crayfish with blue flames on its claws. This familiar is capable to render anything ethereal by producing mists. Due to the fourth primogenitor's strength, the mists are able to cover the whole island without any difficulties. In episode 19, it is said that this familiar was only half-materialized as a wound on Kojou's chest (when Himeragi stabbed Kojou). The mists are strong enough to ward off reality warping. First appeared in Season 1, Episode 19.

Fifth Familiar: REGULUS AURUM (Leo Pemptos / The Lion of Gold) This is the first familiar shown in the series and is commonly used by Kojou. Kojou took control after drinking Yukina's blood. It is a lion-like familiar who has bright red eyes and has a lightning-like mane. This familiar is capable of producing and manipulating electromagnetic energy. Kojou can manipulate the beam to create a force field around him. The ray is strong enough to destroy a barrier of divine oscillation and neutralize Wiseman's Blood energy beam, which was already capable of atomic-level destruction.

Sixth Familiar: MINELAUVA IRIS (Virgo Hektos / Rainbow Flames of the Dark Princess) The War Maiden (Valkyrie) that holds the rainbow-coloured sword of light. Manipulates laws of nature and also carries the cause and effect cutting ability. Kojou obtained this familiar from Yukina, after it was left to her, in his battle against Vatler. First appears in Season 3 Episode 10.

Seventh Familiar: KIFFA-ATER (Libra Hebdomos / The Black Sword of Abraded Night) The medium for this familiar is Yukina and Sayaka. It is an intelligent-type weapon, a gigantic demon sword over 100 meters in length. This trident-like sword is capable of manipulating gravity. It can obliterate a few dozens of kilometers if swung from a high altitude. First appears in Season 2 Episode 3.

Eighth Familiar: SHAULA-VIOLA (Scorpio Ogdoos / Purple Scorpion-Tiger) The medium for this familiar is Asagi. It is a man-eating tiger that is wrapped up in purple flames. It can manipulate poison and can make antidotes, as well as steal the magical power from other familiars. First appears in Season 3 Episode 10.

Ninth Familiar: AL-NASL MINIUM (Sagittarius Enatos / The Bicorn of Deep Crimson) This is the second familiar shown in the series. Kojou took control of it after he drank Sayaka's blood. It is a bicorn-like familiar having glowing purple eyes, black-colored skin, purple fire-like mane and has glowing plate-shaped armor floating around its neck. This familiar is capable of producing and manipulating sound. It is able to create sound quakes and waves. It can tear molecules at an atomic scale by emitting high-frequency vibrations from its entire body. It first appeared in Season 1 Episode 8.

Tenth Familiar: DABIH-CRYSTALLUS (Capricornus Dekatos / The Goat of Glinting Eyes) The whole body is covered with silver crystal scales. It has the form of an Ichthyosaur with one crystal horn that resembles that of a goat's. Its ability is mental and spiritual manipulation. It demonstrated a power that was strong enough to dominate Kojou's other familiars when it was used by December from Tartaros-Roses. The medium for this familiar was Yukina and Yuiri.

Eleventh Familiar: SADALMELIK-ALBUS (Aquarius Hendekatos / The Water Spirit of White Steel) Avrora awakened this familiar by force while in Nagisa's body and subsided by, then gained control of it after drinking Yukina's blood. It is a combination of an undine and a snake. This familiar is capable to revert phenomenon to its original state which is nothingness. Due to this ability, Kojou is able to recover from any kind of injury including decapitation as shown in the series. It is able to erase conceptual existence. First appearance in Season 1 Episode 22.

Twelfth Familiar: ALRESCHA GLACIES (Pisces Dodekatos / The Bewitching Princess of Azure Ice) This familiar can manipulate water and lower the temperature below absolute zero, which was first seen when Avrora used the body of his sister Nagisa to instantly freeze the ocean around them when they were attacked by Wiseman's Blood, and once again when Nagisa was taken to Kannawa.

Yukina Himeragi (姫柊 雪菜, Himeragi Yukina)

Yukina Himeragi (姫柊 雪菜ひめらぎ ゆきな Himeragi Yukina) is the female protagonist of the series. She is an attack mage, or in the Lion King Organization, a Sword Shaman, who is sent by the Lion King Organization to observe the Fourth Primogenitor, Kojou Akatsuki. As she's appointed to observe him, she became a middle-school student studying in Saikai Academy who follows him everywhere and is also ordered to kill him if he becomes too powerful and insane to control himself. She is also the first blood mate of Kojou, and thus being the first, her blood smell is always associated with Kojou's own smell, which has been pointed out many times by other characters who could smell blood, probably due to her blood interbreeding with Kojou's as she was the one who activated Kojou's first 'real' vampiric act. Also, unknown to her, she was intended and prepared by the Lion King Organization to be his lover.Yukina has the appearance of a beautiful young middle-school girl (she has been quoted often times as extremely cute, that even older male students were interested with her upon seeing her picture for the first time that she was even called the princess of their class and she has been begged by all of her male classmates to be their cheerleader in order to win their games) with shoulder-length dark-brown hair that has a fringe around the eyes and bangs either side of her face and dark golden-brown eyes.She is often wearing the Saikai Academy school uniform and she also carries around a guitar case around on her back wherein which she keeps her Schneewalzer.Yukina's personality is accentuated by a peculiar naivety where she generally appears to be a sweet, soft spoken and unassuming girl, but however, a far cry from being a damsel in distress as she is an extremely good fighter, both with hand to hand combat and with lance wielding. Since she was brought up in the Lion King Organization as a soldier, her views on the outside world are different like when she went shopping with Kojou Akatsuki, she thought a golf club was a weapon and a pressure cleaner was a flamethrower. She is also can be noted as quite a kind and caring person.Her goal is to observe Kojou and defeat anyone who she deems a threat. She soon developed special feelings for Kojou which is often hinted through her facial expressions of how upset she is whenever Kojou becomes interested or makes the other girls his blood mate. She has a slight tsundere tendencies. Despite being jealous a couple of times whenever Kojou is around other girls, she never dwells bitterness and hatred towards the other girls Kojou had been interested in, and even on most occasions befriends them, as seen with her interactions with Kanon Kanase and Astarte. Yukina is also protective of the people close to her, even if they are capable of protecting themselves. When Kojou were to notice her reaction and asked her 'why' she tends to answer that 'she's his observer', it is apparently for to convince herself more than Kojou himself.

Asagi Aiba (藍羽 浅葱, Aiba Asagi)

Asagi Aiba is a high-school student studying in Saikai Academy and the classmate of Kojou Akatsuki, Motoki Yaze and Rin Tsukishima who works as a part-time programmer at Gigafloat Management Corporation.In Strike the Blood EX, Asagi is implied to be married to Kojou and they have daughter named Moegi Akatsuki together.Asagi is a beautiful fair-skinned high-school girl with waist-length dyed strawberry blonde hair that is curled at the ends and passes through her shoulder with a fringe and bangs at either side of her face with a long ponytail tied by a pink ribbon, pinkish-red eyes and an average build and height.Asagi is described and mentioned as a beauty by numerous people like Nagisa Akatsuki, Yukina Himeragi and Rin Tsukishima while Sayaka Kirasaka once called and described Asagi as "Akatsuki Kojou’s bimbo", which clearly made Asagi very mad and Asagi's friend has said that her skin, face and body are all beautiful in general.Asagi is normally seen wearing the Saikai Academy uniform with a sweater on. She also usually wears a pink ribbon on her left wrist.Asagi naturally had black hair and glasses in middle school.She displays a tsundere-like attitude towards Kojou Akatsuki. She envies her rival-in-love, Yukina Himeragi.She is an expert programmer and works for the Manmade Island Management Corporation. She has a crush on Kojou. Despite knowing the island is deeply connected to supernatural personals and creatures, she has no idea that her friends are among them. She is nicknamed Cyber Empress. Meiga Itogami noticed that Asagi could be the Priestess of Cain and is practically immortal. As long as she remains on Cain's altar which is Itogami Island, she cannot be killed by any means and the ritual ground will keep her alive by all kinds of factors. Her programming skills and Mogwai maybe also related to Cain.Few years ago, Asagi met Kojou during middle school.

Sayaka Kirasaka (煌坂 紗矢華, Kirasaka Sayaka)

Sayaka Kirasaka is one of the main protagonists. She is a friend of Yukina Himeragi who was ordered by the Lion King Organization to take charge of multinational magical crimes in the Foreign Affairs Division. Being a Shamanic War Dancer, she is often assigned various missions, including observations and VIP protection. She became the second blood partner of Kojou Akatsuki, and developing feelings towards him.Sayaka is a beautiful teenager with knee-length brown hair that is tied in a long ponytail with square bangs hanging on the right side and turquoise-green eyes.She is normally seen wearing a school uniform-like outfit, consisting of a plain white blouse, a miniskirt, thigh highs socks, white sneakers, and her signature purple sweater-vest.In Episode 5, Sayaka is seen wearing a dark red Qipao.For the majority of Season 2, Sayaka wears a purple bikini top and a flowered beach dress, due to the season mostly taking place in Blue Elysium.During Sayaka's first introduction, her most noticeable traits are her obsessive attachment to Yukina Himeragi and a severe case of Androphobia (or the fear of men (which was caused by her late father physically abusing her). This paints Sayaka as an overprotective, confrontational individual. However, on the inside, Sayaka is actually kind and gentle to those she holds close to her, if not slightly cynical towards her current situation.Sayaka, like most of the other characters, is a very powerful fighter and thus she has extreme confidence in her skills as a War Dancer. This confidence, coupled with her natural fighting ability, her sword (The Lustrous Scale/Koukarin), and aggressive fighting style makes Sayaka a force to be reckoned with much like (and most likely surpassing) Yukina Himeragi, Gelda and other attack mages.However, sometimes when fighting, Sayaka does tend to lose herself in emotion if she has a vendetta against her enemy. In fact, Kojou Akatsuki himself ended up being the target of Sayaka's blind rage when she attacked him on Saikai Academy's rooftop, convinced that the vampire had stolen and defiled her only childhood friend. Kojou, unwilling to harm a woman, would've probably lost of not for Asagi Aiba's interference, the injury of which caused Kojou to go berserk himself.Interestingly enough, Sayaka's Androphobia doesn't apply to males that are non-human, such as Kojou or Dimitrie Vatler. While the earlier seasons point out Sayaka's hatred of males to be so extreme that she outright disobeys her superiors due to their gender, it receives less focus as the series continues, save for the occasional remark or offhanded comment.Speaking of offhanded comments, Yukina once mentioned that Sayaka was infamous for her aversion to mobile phones because she couldn't stand men's voices so close to her ears, as even listening to one talk normally is bad enough for her.Sayaka is apparently a decent cook, as she made and sold chocolates during Valentine's Day at the High God Forest.

Natsuki Minamiya (南宮 那月, Minamiya Natsuki)

Natsuki Minamiya is an English teacher at Saikai Academy and she is one of few people who knows that Kojou Akatsuki is the Fourth Primogenitor. Outside of school, she is a high ranking attack mage and is referred to as "Witch of the Void".It is revealed that she is the guardian ("the jailer, the door, and the key") of the legendary magical prison that houses the most dangerous supernatural criminals, with her body being sealed inside the prison and while the version of her that appears outside of the prison is merely an illusion. In the Banquet for the Observers, Natsuki's memories were taken by Aya Tokoyogi. She teleported herself near the Keystone Gate where she instinctively recognized Asagi Aiba who then after took care of her and gave her the temporary name, Sana. After defeating Aya, Natsuki regained back all of her memories.Natsuki has long black hair that has a fringe and long bangs on either side of her face and dark-blue eyes.She is usually seen wearing a black gothic lolita outfit and carrying a black parasol. While undercover as a student in order to discover who was molesting her students on the monorail, she wore the standard Saikai Academy uniform, plus thigh-high socks and a school bag.Natsuki has a childish personality who is very stubborn, but she is very caring as she took Astarte to a festival so that she could enjoy and finally Astarte started showing expressions of delight. She also likes to tease people which is shown when she teased Kojou Akatsuki about getting aroused around Yukina Himeragi in public.Natsuki first met Gajou Akatsuki after Fairy's Coffin was attacked by the Black Death Emperor Faction. Afterward, Gajou asked her to look over his children while he went to find a "cure" for them.

Motoki Yaze (矢瀬 基樹, Yaze Motoki)

Voiced by: Ryōta Ōsaka

Motoki is secretly a member of the Lion Kings and the proper 'observer' of the Fourth Progenitor and as such, his actions are restricted. He is a classmate and friend to Kojo and Asagi. Knowing her well, he often encourages Asagi to pursue Kojo. He is an ESPer with the ability to manipulate sound waves in myriad ways but is susceptible to crippling headaches when exposed to loud noise. He often augments his abilities with a pair of headphones and occasionally with drugs.

Nagisa Akatsuki (暁 凪沙, Akatsuki Nagisa)

Voiced by: Rina Hidaka

Nagisa is Kojo's younger sister and attends the Saikai Academy middle school and is a classmate of Yukina and Kanon. She is gregarious and extraverted and quickly befriends Yukina when she moves in next door. Efforts are made by those close to her to keep her unaware of much of the supernatural activity that surrounds her brother. She was apparently traumatized after a demonic attack four years prior. She unknowingly carries remnants of Avrora who occasionally at critical moments when Nagisa is unconscious near a supernatural event, will possess her body and offer assistance or cryptic advice.

Mogwai (モグワイ, Moguwai)

Voiced by: Shinji Kawada

Asagi's virtual partner who assists in her hacking missions. He is the avatar of the supercomputers that administrate Itogami Island (絃神島), but his deeper purpose is obscure.

Astarte (アスタルテ, Asutarute)

Voiced by: Yuka Iguchi

A homunculus notable in that she controls a familiar, she arrived on Itogami Island as a servant to Eustach. She currently serves Minamiya as a maid. She typically expresses little emotion, and is not often talkative.

Kanon Kanase (叶瀬 夏音, Kanase Kanon)

Voiced by: Kanae Itō

A shy, silver-haired middle-school girl who is Nagisa's friend and classmate and an inveterate collector of feral cats. She is the illegitimate daughter of La Folia's grandfather, and thus her half-aunt and Polifonia's half-sister, and was raised in Japan. She is the subject of Kensei Kanase's Angel Faux (エンジェル･フォウ) experiment.

Dimitrie Vatler (ディミトリエ・ヴァトラー, Dimitorie Vuatorā), Lord Ardeal (アルデアル公, Arudearu-kou)

Voiced by: Yūki Ono

Also known by his title, Lord Ardeal, he is a vampire and representative of the Warlord's Empire (戦王領域, sen`ou ryouiki) who becomes its ambassador to Itogami Island. As a powerful, old vampire with too much free time he is constantly seeking strong enemies to fight and often interjects himself into situations which don’t concern him. Derisively called Snake Charmer (蛇遣い, hebitsukai) by some who know him well; all of his known familiars are serpents.

Avrora Florestina (アヴローラ・フロレスティーナ, Avurōra Furoresutīna)

Voiced by: Kaori Ishihara

The previous Fourth Progenitor who passed her powers to Kojo upon her death. A fragment of her soul, whatever that means, persists within Nagisa and occasionally possesses her at crucial moments. She controls the twelfth familiar.

La Folia Rihavein (ラ・フォリア・リハヴァイン, Ra Foria Rihavuain)

Voiced by: Saori Ōnishi

The princess of Aldegyr (アルディギア王国) is a beautiful, silver-haired girl first encountered when pursued by illicit weapons producer Magus Craft during the Angel Faux experiments. Kanon is her half-aunt.

Kensei Kanase (叶瀬 賢生, Kanase Kensei)

Voiced by: Yutaka Aoyama

A magical researcher and director of Magus Craft who after adopting his niece Kanon, makes her the centrepiece of the Angel Faux experimentation. Was previously a court mage in Aldegyr. Subsequently conducts research while held by the IIMC.

Nina Adelard (ニーナ・アデラード, Nīna Aderādo)

Voiced by: Mai Nakahara

An alchemist who is Kou's master and some 270 years of age. Her current physical body, while well-proportioned, is doll-sized.

Kiriha Kisaki (妃崎霧葉, Kisaki Kiriha)

Voiced by: Yukiyo Fujii

'Black sword shaman' or Rikujin Shinkan (六刃神官) with the Taishikyoku (太史局), a rival agency to the Lion Kings. She is both an antagonist and ally to Kojo with her own agenda. Her lance, Richel Carre (リチエルカーレ), possesses the ability to manipulate demonic energy.

Lydianne Didier (リディアーヌ・ディディエ, Ridiānu Didie)

Voiced by: Misaki Kuno

A young computer expert who likes and admires Asagi but is also eager to compete with her. She calls herself Tank Driver (戦車乗り, Senshanori) and drives a pink tank. Her family operates a major industrial firm.

Koyomi Shizuka (閑 古詠, Shizuka Koyomi), Paper Noise (静寂破り「ペーパーノイズ」, Pēpānoizu)

Voiced by: Kana Ueda

Member of the Three Saints (三聖, sansei), the leaders of the Lion King Agency. A quiet individual with long braided hair and glasses who often wears a shrine maiden outfit, she attends Saikai Academy and is in an apparent relationship with Motoki. She is often referred to by her unique spell name, Paper Noise.

Rudolf Eustach (ルードルフ・オイスタッハ, Rūdorufu Oisutahha)

Voiced by: Kenta Miyake

A combat deacon (殲教師, senkyoushi) of Lotharingia (ロタリンギア), he is a powerful fighter and exorcist who comes to Itogami Island to retrieve a religious relic taken from the church. He initially controls Astarte until their defeat by Kojo and Yukina.

Christoph Gardos (クリストフ・ガルドシュ, Kurisutofu Garudoshu)

The therianthrope (獣人, juujin) leader of the Black Death Emperor Faction (黒死皇派, kuroshi sumeragiha) and a former soldier of the Warlord's Empire.

Beatrice Basler (ベアトリス・バスラー, Beatorisu Basurā)

An employee of Magus Craft. A vampire, she wields a spear possessing the familiar Jabra.

Lowe Kirishima (ロウ・キリシマ, Rou Kirishima)

Yuuma Tokoyogi (仙都木 優麻, Tokoyogi Yūma)

Kojo's childhood friend. Known as the 'Blue Witch' (蒼の魔女, ao no majo), she is a clone of her mother Aya, engineered with the singular purpose of freeing her from prison. She is apparently a member of The Library (図書館, toshokan) but is not very active with the organization. Her guardian spirit is Le Bleu (ル・ブルー), the 'Blue Knight' (青の騎士, ao no kishi).

Aya Tokoyogi (仙都木 阿夜, Tokoyogi Aya)
