Learning the Game

Recording

The song was recorded in 1959, shortly after his marriage and before his death. Similar to his previous songs, it combined A, E, and D chords. It was also overdubbed a few times.[2]

Notable covers

The song has been recorded by many notable artists, including The Rolling Stones, The Lemonheads, Leo Kottke, Justin Hayward, and Bobby Vee.[3] It was also covered by Natalie Merchant for Buddy Holly's 75th birthday.[4]
