Kuru (mythology)

"Sidaba Mapu" (Meitei: ꯁꯤꯗꯕ ꯃꯄꯨ) (literally,"Immortal God"[1]) or Kuru (Meitei: ꯀꯨꯔꯨ) or Soraren (Meitei: ꯁꯣꯔꯥꯔꯦꯟ) is the Supreme God, Creator of the universe and the Sky God in Meitei mythology and religion.[2] He is also known as Atiya Kuru Sidaba.[3][4][5][6].According to Kanglei mythology Sidaba Mapu being the creator of the Universe from a philosophical theory known as Leithak Leikharol Nongsemlon and Leisemlon(Leisemlon Ahanpa)[7], somewhat similar to the popular big bang theory He is believed to be in a formless shapeless form at the beginning and as He felt the need of creation of earth He shake,vibrate expand and condensed and produce Laisa(earth element),here it can also be noted that according to Kanglei mythology earth is personified as mother of all. The term Atiya mean the vast and empty sky; Kuru or Kulu, the round or circular hemisphere; and Shidaba or Sidaba, immortal.[8]

Etymology

In modern times, Kuru (Guru) is also used to refer to a teacher or parent or educator or instructor, who stands above all hindrances and attraction.[14] Another usage is for things pertaining to anything living or non-living.
