Keyvan Dehnad

Keyvan Dehnad (born January 25, 1961, in Tehran) is an international Judo referee,[1] and ‘judo and jujitsuathlete. He is known as the first Iranian international referee authorized by the International Judo Federation and he was a referee during the 1992 World Military Championships CISM in Seoul.[2] Dehnad is the titleholder of the 10th Dan jujitsu.[3]

Life

Keyvan Dehnad and Ichiro Abe

He started learning judo at the age of eight and gained a black belt in judo at the age of 16. Since the teenagehood, he has attended the competitions and activities of the Iranian national judo team. Dehnad has 8th Dan Judo. He has also authored and translated several books about Judo. One of his books is titled Judo: a sport and a way of life, and he has been the research committee president of the Judo Federation. His works are archived and registered in Kodokan Judo Institute.[4][5]

Director of Jujitsu and Kobudo committees

In 2006, Keyvan Dehnad was appointed as the Director of the JJIF jujitsu and Kobudo WKF  by Abbas Khazaei the Iran Martial Arts Federation president.

Referee in the World Cup

In the World Judo Championships,Tokyo JAPAN October 5, 2008,[6] Keyvan Dehnad as the only Iranian referee, judged the competitions, besides, he was the referee for the crucial final match.[7] And, on November 8, 2008, Keyvan Dehnad as an Iranian certified referee by the International Judo Federation, judged the A-class matches in that World cup as an International skilled referee.[8][9] He has also referred numerous Olympic qualifying Tournaments, including judging the German World Cup for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Junior world championship 2006[10] and the 2004 Athens Olympic Qualifying Tournaments.

According to the Public Relations department of the Martial Arts Federation and the Martial Arts website, simultaneous with the World Jujitsu Championships, Keyvan Dehnad, the founder of Jujitsu in Iran and the International Judo referee throughout the Pan Caribbean ceremony, could be achieved jujitsu 10th Dan by Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona, the President of Trinidad and Tobago, on behalf of the AJJIF-world Jujitsu Federation.[11] Dehnad, over the years, as a pioneer has had an extensive beneficial role in coaching, educations, and competition holding. Moreover, he is the first Iranian jujitsuka who attained the 10th Dan AJJIF Jujitsu form the World Federation.[12]

2014 Judo Grand Master

For the first time in the Swiss Hall of Honour,[13] the title of Grand Master was awarded to Keyvan Dehnad, Iranian referee and international coach. This title was granted to this Iranian sports senior in the presence of the world's masters, seniors, and pioneer athletes. The title was presented to Dehnad by former Swiss President and Sports Minister, Ueli Maurer. It was the first time that the Grand Master title was given to an Iranian martial arts athlete in Switzerland. On October 1, 2014, Dehnad was granted the title of Grand Master in Switzerland's Hall of Fame, in the presence of the Minister of Sports of this country.[14]

Yongmudo style

Dehnad as the founder of the Yongmudo[15] style in Iran, has compiled the Yongmudo competitions constitution and wrote the book of Yongmudo martial arts[16][17] to introduce this Korean martial art to the Iranians. Yongmudo is known as one of the official sports of Masterships.[18]
