Katie Guay

Katie Guay is a former American ice hockey player currently serving as a referee. In November 2014, Erin Blair and Katie Guay became the first female officials to referee an SPHL game, also the same game in which Shannon Szabados became the first female goaltender to win an SPHL game, when the Columbus Cottonmouths defeated the Fayetteville FireAntz 5–4 in overtime.[1]

Officiating career

After graduating from Brown University in 2005, Guay took up officiating.[2] Among her most notable assignments, she would serve in Ice hockey at the 2018 Winter Olympics – Women's tournament.[3]

In September 2019, Guay became one of four women to officiate at the NHL level for the first time, working in an NHL Prospect Tournament hosted by the Anaheim Ducks at Great Park Ice in Irvine, California, from Sept. 7 through 10.[4]

Guay was also joined by Kelly Cooke, Kendall Hanley and Kirsten Welsh as officials who worked the Elite Women's 3-on-3 event at the 2020 National Hockey League All-Star Game at Enterprise Center in St. Louis.[5]
