Plot

Twin sisters Sandhya and Lalitha get separated at birth due to poverty. One is brought up by a rich person, and the other by their mother Kamakshi. Krishnan, a doctor, comes to treat the ailing mother, and Kamakshi's daughter falls in love with him, which he is not aware of. On her deathbed, Kamakshi reveals to her daughter the other twin's existence. The girl searches for her twin and eventually both end up travelling on the same train. An accident occurs, causing the rich twin to lose her memory and she is presumed dead. Things further escalate when Krishnan marries the poor twin, under the assumption that she is the rich one. Their child is born, and the real rich twin shows up. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.
