Synopsis
Joris is a Dutch young man trying to come to terms with his father's death almost 10 years back. His powerful conservative mother is no help ignoring his feelings. Meanwhile, Yad, a young Syrian refugee who has settled in the Netherlands, is employed to do chores for Joris' grandmother Ans. Yad has returned from Amsterdam to live with his family and has issues himself with their traditional upbringing. Although very different, there is an instant spark between the two through music and sports, mainly surfing and as their feelings towards each other grows, they feel they are more than "just friends". Their mothers, on the other hand, threaten to jeopardize this relationship between the two young men. Due to family pressure, they have a falling-out, but things turn better after Joris is reconciled with his father's death.[4]
