José Osuna

José Gregorio Osuna (born December 12, 1992) is a Venezuelan professional baseball outfielder and first baseman for the Tokyo Yakult Swallows of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Career

Pittsburgh Pirates

Osuna signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates as an international free agent in December 2009.[1] The Pirates added him to their 40-man roster after the 2016 season.[2] The Pirates promoted Osuna to the major leagues on April 18, 2017.[3] His first major league hit, a triple, came off of CC Sabathia on April 21.[4] Osuna spent the 2017, 2018, and 2019 between seasons between the minor and major leagues. On November 20, 2020, Osuna was designated for assignment.[5] On November 23, 2020, Osuna was released.

Tokyo Yakult Swallows

On November 26, 2020, Osuna announced on Instagram that he had signed with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows of Nippon Professional Baseball.[6]
