Jeremy Gardiner (born 26 April 1957) is a contemporary British landscape painter.

Overview

Gardiner was born in Münster, Germany.[5] He was educated at Newcastle University (BA Hons in Fine Art, 1975–79) and the Royal College of Art in London (MA in Painting, 1980–83).[6] He has held academic positions at Birkbeck, University of London, the University of West London, Bath Spa University, the University of Florida, Printmaking at the Royal College of Art, Department of Digital Arts at the Pratt Institute (New York), the Media Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology,[1] and a full professor position at Ravensbourne in east London.[7] Subsequently he has become a fulltime artist.

Gardiner was awarded The Discerning Eye ING Art Prize in 2013.[4] His monograph, The Art of Jeremy Gardiner, Unfolding Landscape was published by Lund Humphries[8] in January of the same year. He has exhibited widely in Europe and the United States, and is represented in the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum,[9] The Government Art Collection,[10] BNP Paribas, Pinsent Masons, Ente Nazionale Idrocarburi (Eni), and ING. His exhibition A Panoramic View in 2010 was organised by Pallant House[11] in 2010 to coincide with a major retrospective of John Tunnard. Gardiner was a featured artist at Browns London Art Weekend 2016.[12]

Gardiner’s work has been included in several important exhibitions including ‘A Panoramic View’ at the Pallant House Gallery in Chichester; ‘Exploring the Elemental’ at The Nine British Art,[13] St James's, London; ‘Unfolding Landscape’ at Kings Place Gallery, London; ‘Shorelines’ at St Barbe Museum, Lymington; ‘Facing History’ at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; ‘Drawn to the Coast’[14] at the Paisnel Gallery, London; and ‘South by Southwest’[15] at The Nine British Art, London.

Gardiner’s paintings are included in major international collections including BNP Paribas, London; Davis Polk & Wardwell, Paris; Ente Nazionale Idrocarburi, Milan; Government Art Collection, London;[10] Imperial College Art Collection, London; NYNEX Corporate Collection, USA; Royal College of Art Collection, London; Victoria and Albert Museum, London.[9]
