Jay Narayan Vyas
Jay Narayan Vyas (born 14 April 1947) is a politician, scholar, analyst, academician, administrator, manager & a public life functionary from Gujarat, India. He is a former Cabinet Minister of Government of Gujarat in charge of Health & Family Welfare department from 2007 to 2012 during Bharatiya Janata Party rule.

Education
He is an under graduate in Civil Engineering from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda and a post graduate in Civil Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and also holds post graduate qualifications in Marketing Management and a degree in Law.
Career
Vyas has teamed up with Bakul Dholakia, former director of Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, and Mukesh Patel, an eminent tax expert, scholar and columnist; for presenting a post-budget discussion on the day immediately after the union budget is presented in the parliament of India. The session conducted by this trio spans over three decades and attracts a huge participation from people in trade, industry, commerce, academics and government bureaucracy.
Bureaucratic career
He is a water management expert. He headed Sardar Sarovar Dam project as a Chairman of the Corporation responsible of implementation. It was one of the largest multi-purpose water management projects in India. He also guided the implementation of this project later date as the Minister in charge of Sardar Sarovar and major irrigation projects. His contribution in bringing this project a reality ensuring various compliances like rehabilitation, environmental planning etc. has won him the wide acclamation.
He had a long and effective contribution as a bureaucrat in the State's Industry Department followed by a political career spanning more than 20 years.
Political career
He was elected to Gujarat Legislative Assembly in 2007 and became Cabinet Minister in Government of Gujarat in charge of Health & Family Welfare, Co-ordination of Voluntary Organisations, Non Resident Gujarati Division.
Vyas lost to Balvantsinh Rajput of Indian National Congress for the Siddhpur assembly seat in 2012 Gujarat legislative assembly election whom he had defeated in 2007.[1]
Writing
He has written number of books and articles on the subjects ranging from Industrial Policy and Procedures, NRI Investments, Foreign Collaborations, Stocks, Finance, Import - Export Policies, Small Scale Industries etc. Currently he spends his time at saket projects and is the chairman of it.
