History

Jaclupan was made a barangay in 1946. The name Jaclupan was derived from the word "hakopan", which means a place where there was a lush growth of medicinal plants that were used by the local folks as well as those from neighboring areas.

Jaclupan is one of the mountain barangays in the city. It is located in the watershed area and contains the Metropolitan Cebu Water District's (MCWD) weir dam. Abundant water is its biggest resource along with the Igotan Falls, which has drawn many visitors. Mangoes, vegetables and bamboos are plentiful in this barangay.
