Igbo alphabet

The modern Igbo alphabet (Igbo: Mkpụrụ Edemede Igbo), otherwise known as the Igbo alphabet (Igbo: Mkpụrụ Edemede[1] Igbo), is the alphabet of the Igbo language, It originated around the 17th century from the Latin script, and Is one of the three national languages of Nigeria.[2] The modern Igbo alphabet is made up of 36 letters, which includes only 23-letter set of the ISO basic Latin alphabet minus C Q X is not part of Abidịị Igbo, and It uses the Ị, Ọ, Ụ of Dot (diacritic) And the Macron (diacritic) N̄, The word alphabet is a compound of first two letters of the Greek alphabet, alpha and beta.

There are numerous Igbo dialects, some of which are not mutually intelligible. The standard written form of Igbo is based on the Owerri and Umuahia dialects.

Letters

The 36 Letter alphabet is called Mkpụrụ Edemede or Abidịị, Ọdị Ụdaume Asatọ (8) na Mgbochiume iri na itoolu (19) and they are classed either as Ụdaume (vowels) or Mgbochiume (consonants).
