Haji Syed Ahmed Shah

Haji Syed Ahmed Shah, known as Haji Baba, was a saint who migrated from Bukhara to Saudi Arabia, and then to the KPK region of Pakistan somewhere in the 15th or 16th century to preach Islam and then settled there. He earned the title of "Haji Baba" after performing hajj many times, traveling all the way from Asia to Makkah by foot.   He is a descendant of Mohammad, and specifically he was from the lineage of Imam Hussain and Imam Ali al-Hadi.    His descendants are called Hajikhel (tribe) Syeds, who mostly live in the Upper Dir District of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and some migrated to the district of Swabi, specifically to the villages of Gandaf, and Maini.  His sons by tradition are both buried in these two villages.  His tomb is located at Gandigar, Upper Dir District. His descendants are linguistically Pashtuns who are also called Miangan or Mian by other Pashtun tribes, but they call themselves Pashtuns because of culture adaptation, as Miangan also refers to the Mishwanis (another Syed tribe who kept the Syed name)
