Gypsy in Jazz

Gypsy in Jazz is a jazz album released by Teddy Wilson and His Trio in 1959 on Columbia CL 1352 (mono) and CS 8160 (Stereo).[2] The album is from a once-common tradition of releasing a jazz version of hit Broadway shows, whose audience was not the hard-core jazz fan, but the casual music listener willing to broaden their horizons within a familiar context.[3] The Australian version was released in 1963 in time for the premier of Gypsy in Melbourne.[4] Scott Yanow notes that the album departs from Wilson's usual playlist to interesting effect, but laments the LP is not readily available.[1]
