Graham Medley

Graham Francis Hassell Medley OBE (born 1961) is professor of infectious disease modelling at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the director of the Centre for the Mathematical Modelling of Infectious Diseases there.[1][2]

Medley was educated at Churcher's College and the University of York.

He is one of the 23 attendees of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage), advising the United Kingdom government on the COVID-19 pandemic. He is chair of the SPI-M modelling sub-committee, and was quoted in The Guardian saying he would like to "put all the more vulnerable people into the north of Scotland … everybody else into Kent and have a nice, big epidemic in Kent, so that everyone becomes immune".[3]

Since 2014, he has been a member of the Science board of reviewing editors.[4]

Medley was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2020 Birthday Honours for services to the COVID-19 response.[5]
