Gilles Schnepp

Gilles Schnepp (born 16 October 1958 in Lyon, France) is a French corporate senior executive. He was the Chairman and chief executive officer of the Legrand Group between March 2006 and February 2018. He is succeeded by Benoît Coquart as CEO.[1]

In February 2020, he announces that he will step down as Chairman of Legrand in July 2020.[2]

Career

Having graduated from HEC Paris in 1981, Gilles Schnepp begins his career in 1983 at Merrill Lynch France.[3]

He leaves the world of finance in 1989 by joining Legrand. Having served as deputy chief financial officer and later as CFO, he becomes vice-chairman and chief executive officer of Legrand in 2004, succeeding François Granite.[4]

In 2006, he takes on the role of chairman and CEO.

Income

In 2009, Gilles Schnepp's income of one million euros is ranked 75th among the main French senior executives.[5]

Other functions and directorships

Gilles Schnepp has been a member, representing Wendel, of the Board of Directors of Saint-Gobain since June 2009.[6] He is a member of the Executive Committee of GIMELEC,[7] and of the Board of Directors of Promotelec,[8] and chairman of FIEEC (French Federation of Electrical, Electronics and Communication Industries) since July 2013.[9]

In July 2013, he is elected vice-chairman of the Silver Economy industry strategic committee.[10]

Honours

In 2007, Gilles Schnepp is awarded France's Legion of Honour, receiving the title of Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur.[11]

In 2012, he receives the title of officer in the French National Order of Merit (France).[12]

Private life

Gilles Schnepp is married to Blandine Favre-Gilly, an attorney at law, and has three children: Paul, Adrien, and Marie.[13]

He enjoys cycling,[14] tennis, and takes an interest in antiques and decoration.[3]
