A native of Buffalo, New York, Speth attended Seneca Vocational School and then played college football at Murray State University.[1]
He was selected by the Detroit Lions with the 165th pick of the 1942 NFL Draft. He appeared in 10 NFL games, five as a starter, as a tackle for the Lions during the 1942 season.[1]
