Fred Mazurek

Frederick Henry Mazurek (born March 21, 1943) is a former American football flanker in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins. Fred received a scholarship from Pitt and was the starting quarterback for the Pitt Panthers from 1961 to 1965. They played for the national championship in 1963 against Navy and lost 7 to 6 (Roger Staubach was the quarterback for Navy). He also played baseball and was an All-American center fielder for the baseball team at the University of Pittsburgh.[1]

Personal life

Mazurek's younger sister Bernadette Mazurek Melnyk is dean of the College of Nursing at Ohio State University.[2]
