Fortuna (captured ships)(1805 - 1812)

A list of the some 46 enemy merchant ships, all called Fortuna, captured in the later Napoleonic Wars (1805 to 1812) by ships of the British Royal Navy [Note 1]
The list is presented in date order of the capture, detention or recapture of the ship, and the nationality, where mentioned in the official record, is included.
Detained is the word used officially for ships arrested before the official declaration of hostilities - usually, in this case, with Denmark at the Second Battle of Copenhagen
