The Ford Godzilla engine is a V8 engine offered by the Ford Motor Company. The engine is intended to replace the 6.8-liter Modular V10 engine,[1][3] and started appearing in the Ford E-Series vans and Ford Super Duty pickup trucks for the 2020 model year.[3][4]

It is also available as a crate engine.[5]

Because the engine uses overhead valves actuated by pushrods, it is smaller than many of the overhead camshaft Ford Modular engines, and can be fitted to older cars.[6]

Common Applications

The 7.3L gas V8 is available in its highest state of tune (430 hp (321 kW) @5500 RPM and 475 lb⋅ft (644 N⋅m) @4000 RPM) for the F-250 and F-350; a detuned 'Premium' version (350 hp (261 kW) @3900 RPM and 468 lb⋅ft (635 N⋅m) @3900 RPM) is fitted to Ford F-600 and F-700 trucks and E-Series van chassis.[4] An 'economy' tune, available only in the E-Series, lowers output further to 300 hp (224 kW) @3750 RPM and 425 lb⋅ft (576 N⋅m) @3250 RPM in the interest of fuel economy. The 'premium' tune is intended as a direct replacement for the 6.8L V10, while the 'economy' tune replaces the 6.2L V8.[3]
