Flee (film)
Flee is an 2021 internationally co-produced animated documentary film, directed by Jonas Poher Rasmussen, written by Power Rasmussen and Amin. It follows the story of a man named Amin, who shares his hidden past for the first time, of fleeing his country. Riz Ahmed and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau serve as executive producers.

The film had its world premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival on January 28, 2021, where it won the Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema Documentary section.
Plot
The film follows Amin, on the verge of marrying his husband shares his story for the first time about his hidden past of fleeing his country as a refugee.
Production
In January 2021, it was announced Riz Ahmed and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau would serve as executive producers on the film, and narrate an English-language version of the film.[2]
Release
The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 28, 2021.[3] Shortly after, Neon, Participant, Curzon Artificial Eye and Haut et Court acquired U.S., U.K., and French distribution rights to the film.[4][5][6] The film was initially set to have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2020, but the festival was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[7]
Critical reception
Flee received critical acclaim, with Sundance juror Kim Longinotto calling it "an instant classic" at the festival's awards ceremony. It holds a 100% approval rating on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, based on 32 reviews, with a weighted average of 8.50/10.[8] On Metacritic, the film holds a rating of 91 out of 100, based on 9 critics, indicating "universal acclaim".[9]
