Félix Maradiaga is a Nicaraguan academic and political activist. From 2002 to 2006, he was Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense under President Enrique Bolaños.[1] Maradiaga is the founding co-director of Civil Society Leadership Institute.[2] In September 2018, he spoke to the UN Security Council about what he characterised as the repression against the people by the government of Daniel Ortega.[3] A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest, accusing him of "organized crime and financing of terrorism".[3] That same year, Maradiaga was hospitalised by a group of government supporters in León.[4][5] Maradiaga later fled the country.[2][6]
