Elliott V. Bell

Elliott Valance Bell (September 25, 1902 - January 1983) was a financial writer for The New York Times who managed the two successful gubernatorial campaigns for his friend, Thomas E. Dewey. Bell was appointed Superintendent of Banks for the State of New York in 1943 by then Governor Thomas E Dewey.[1] Bell was also editor and publisher of BusinessWeek.[2]

Bell was a founding member of the New York Financial Writers' Association, which was founded June 15, 1938. He served as the first president of the association.[3]

He attended DeWitt Clinton High School, graduated from Columbia College of Columbia University in 1925 and he was the president of the Philolexian Society.[2][4]
