Premise
Ruy (Jaime Lorente), son to low-ranking nobleman wronged by Ferdinand, Count of Castile (José Luis García Pérez) and raised in the borderlands of Castile is taken by his grandfather Rodrigo (Juan Fernández) to the capital of the Kingdom of León,[4] where Ferdinand, married to Queen Sancha (Elia Galera) rules as King. Ruy becomes the squire of Sancho (Francisco Ortiz),[4] the older male child of Ferdinand. Ruy's loyalty to Ferdinand (a man he despises) is tested,[4] as a plot to overthrow Ferdinand by the Leonese nobility led by Count Flaín (Carlos Bardem) begins to unravel. Meanwhile, the ambitions of another member of Ferdinand's progeny, Urraca (Alicia Sanz), dissapointed for being cast aside the line of succession in favour of Sancho just because she is a female despite being the eldest child, create tensions in the Royal Court.[5]
