Dhamaka (2021 film)

Dhamaka is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Ram Madhvani and produced by RSVP Movies, Ram Madhvani Films, Lotte Cultureworks and Global Gate Entertainment.[1] The movie stars Kartik Aaryan in the leading role of a journalist.[2] Dhamaka is an official remake of the 2014 South Korean film The Terror Live.[3] The movie will have a direct-to-OTT release on Netflix in the first half of 2021, once its post-production is finished.[4]

In October 2020, it was reported that Ram Madhvani narrated the film's script to Kartik Aaryan and he gave his nod, as it was his first serious role after a number of comical and romantic characters.[6] Aaryan officially announced the film on his 30th birthday, i.e. 22 November 2020.[7] Principal photography began on 14 December 2020 in Mumbai.[8] [9][10] The film was wrapped up in just 10 days on 24 December 2020.[11][12][13]

Marketing and release

On 22 November 2020, apart from official announcement, a first look poster was also revealed.[14] Aaryan unveiled the first glimpse of his character on 21 December 2020.[15]

In January 2021, it was reported that Dhamaka will now have a direct-to-OTT release on Netflix and skip theatrical release due to COVID-19 pandemic.[16]
