Defence minister of Armenia
The Defence Minister of the Republic of Armenia (Armenian: Հայաստանի պաշտպանության նախարար) is the head of the Ministry of Defence, who is charged with the political leadership of the Armed Forces of Armenia. The position was re-established in January 1992 following Armenia's independence from the USSR, and is currently headed by Vagharshak Harutyunyan. From 1993-1995 there was a concurrent position of the State Minister for Defence held by Vazgen Sargsyan.
