Dean Monogenis

Dean Monogenis is an American painter and sculptor who creates architectural settings.[1] He uses a variety of techniques in his painting which results in added lines, edges and textures that he thereafter accentuates.[2]

Education

Monogenis Attended Skidmore College from 1991-1992 and graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, BFA in 1996.[3]

Solo exhibitions

Monogenis has shown his work internationally at galleries including: Baronian Xippas, Brussels, Belgium, [4] Galerie Xippas in France, Switzerland, Uruguay, and Greece,[5] Stux Gallery, NYC;[6] CCA Andratx, Spain;[7] Morgan Lehman Gallery, NYC;[8] and the Walter Maciel Gallery, Los Angeles[3][9]

His works have also been exhibited in galleries and museums including: Musée d'art moderne (Saint-Étienne),[10] Pavillon de l'Arsenal,[11] Neuberger Museum of Art,[12] Santa Monica Museum of Art, CCA Andratx,[13] Wave Hill,[14] Federal Reserve Board of Governors,[15] Mykonos Biennale, Angels Gate Cultural Center, Herter Art Gallery, University of Massachusetts, Bedford Gallery at the Lesher Center for the Arts, Schneider Museum of Art,[16] Hunterdon Art Museum.

Artists he has exhibited with include:[17] Lucas Samaras, Takis, Darren Almond, Marco Maggi, Vik Muniz, Panagiota Apostolopoulou, Farah Atassi, François Morellet, Daniel Buren, Nikos Alexiou, Philippe Ramette, Amir H. Fallah, Sophie Calle, Peter Halley, Valerie Jouve, ORLAN, Pepa Prieto, Dan Walsh among others.[18]

Monogenis' work has been included in art fairs including: FIAC,[19] VOLTA, [20][21] Arte BA,[22] artgenève, [23] [24] Pulse NY and Miami, Miami Project,[25] and Este Art Fair

Monogenis was awarded: The Artist in the Market Place (AIM) Program from the Bronx Museum of the Arts (Bronx, NY, USA).,[26] FLOW 14 Art at Randall's Island, (Randall's Island Park, NYC, USA).,[27][28] Visiting Artist Anderson Ranch Editions,(Snowmass, Colorado, USA)[29]

Artist in residence

Monogenis has twice held the position Artist in Residence at Spain's CCA Andratx Art Centre (in 2012 and 2016)[30] The Fountainhead Residency, Miami,[31] New York's Pace University, Dyson College of Arts and Sciences.[32]
