Dayo Adedayo

Dayo Adedayo (born on 1st July 1964) is a British-trained Nigerian documentary photographer, cultural anthropologist, and author. Dayo is the author of Nigeria 2.0, the book documented the story behind many places in Nigeria. Within a space of 17 years, Dayo has travelled and documented 36 states in Nigeria.[1]

Education

Adedayo had his primary education at Children's Home School, Molete, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria and Moslem Primary School, Idofe, Oke-Ife, Ijebu Ife, Ogun State, Nigeria.He passed his secondary school certificate from Ijebu Ife Community Grammar School. He studied photography at Westminster College and University of Westminster, U.K. He is the author of Rivers State Our Proud Heritage, Tour Nigeria and Lagos State, A Visual Portrait.[2] He has archived over 4million images about Nigeria.[3]

Career

Adedayo started out as a social photographer, later freelance for ovation magazine before venturing into documentary photography. His photographic worked include the E-Passport of Nigeria, the walls of the Lagos and Abuja international airport and numerous institutions both in Nigeria and diaspora[4]

Adedayo has travelled and documented the 774 local government in Nigeria.[5] His work also adnorned the pages of E-Passport of Nigeria, the One Hundred Naira note to mark the centenary of Nigeria, the walls of the International Airports of Lagos, Abuja and several institutions and homes across Nigeria, and a member on the committee of setting up photography as a course in Nigerian Polytechnics.[6][7]
