Clemente Rico
Clemente Rico (c. 1795 – c. 1840) was an Argentine patriot who participated in the War of Independence.[1] He began his military career in 1814, taking an active part in the emancipatory events of Argentina until the end of the War.[2] He was the brother and comrade of Manuel Rico, a military man who participated in the Battle of San Cala.[3]

He also served in the Unitary Army taking part in various military campaigns under the command of Gregorio Aráoz de Lamadrid.[4]
Family
He was born in Buenos Aires, the son of Francisco Rico and Isabel Rueda,[5] a distinguished family of Andalusian origin related to the Piña and Merlos families. He was married in the Catedral Nuestra Señora de la Asunción with María Eustaquia Bolaños, born in Córdoba, daughter of Lieutenant Colonel José Bolaños and Teresa de Alagón, belonging to noble Cordovan families.[6]
His sisters Margarita and Fernanda Rico, were married to José Belgrano and Domingo Belgrano, the sons of Joseph Belgrano.[7] His grandson Conrado Nin Rico, was married to Julia Elina Lavalleja, granddaughter of Juan Antonio Lavalleja.[8]
