Christ among the Doctors (Luini)

Christ Among the Doctors is a c.1515-1530 oil on panel painting of Christ with the doctors of the law by Bernardino Luini, now in the National Gallery, London. Several copies of varying quality also survive.

Dürer's version of the subject led to the subject becoming popular around Venice and Isabella d'Este requested Leonardo da Vinci to produce a work on the subject. He never completed it but his lost preparatory drawings for it may have inspired Luini and Cima da Conegliano's versions of the scene. Luini's version in particular is heavily influence by Leonardo, especially in the almost-caricature heads of the doctors.[1]
