Chestnut wood quail

The chestnut wood quail (Odontophorus hyperythrus) is a bird species in the family Odontophoridae. It is found only in Colombia. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forest. It is becoming rare due to habitat loss.

Feeding

The Chestnut wood quail eats insects and nuts especially in summer, as well as plants. Unlike many other bird species, they require a high protein diet.
