Charlotte Speedway (board track)
Charlotte Speedway was an American racetrack that was popular between 1924 and 1926 when the attendance dropped.

Beginnings
A group of local businessmen financed the $380,000 for the Charlotte speedway.[1] In the open race, almost 30,000 spectators watched Tommy Milton beat ten other racers. The Charlotte Speedway drew thousands of people in North Carolina. In May 1925 Charlotte Speedway drew 50,000 spectators, but it eventually lost its popularity, and in November 1926 the attendance dropped to 7,500.
Final race and current racing venue
The final race was in September 1927. The area is now in Southland Industrial Park complex, on the opposite side of Interstate 485 to the area's current Charlotte Motor Speedway.
