Calma Carmona

Myraida Desireé Carmona Díaz , publicly known by the stage name Calma Carmona, is a Puerto Rican singer-songwriter whose music is primarily Soul & Latin Soul[1][2] with influences[3][4] that cross Sade Adu, Santana, PJ Harvey, La Lupe and Tina Turner. She sings in both her native Spanish and English.[5][6]

In August 2013, Carmona was voted MTV Iggy Artist of the week and in the same year, she opened for Beyoncé's The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour in Puerto Rico.[7][8] She is known for her "wide-ranging influences",[9] in the style of singers such as Jill Scott and Erykah Badu.[10] She released her debut EP, There's No Other Girl, in September 2013 on mun2.

In 2015, Carmona was hired by Gravity Thinking[11] to sing the Franz Ferdinand track Love Illumination, for the Glenfiddich 21-year-old whiskey campaign,[12][13] arranged and conducted for the Scottish Opera Orchestra by Derek Williams.[14][15] The YouTube version amassed over 1.7 million hits in its premiere run, and has now been relisted for release in Taiwan.
