Byrganym Aitimova
Byrganym Sarykyzy Aitimova (Kazakh: Birǵanym Saryqyzy Áıtimova, born 26 February 1953)[1][2] served as the ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United Nations from 2007 to 2013.[3][4] Prior to her appointment as UN ambassador, she served as the Minister of Education and Science from 2004 until Zhanseit Tuymenbayev replaced her on 10 January 2007.[3][5] She served as Kazakhstan's ambassador to Italy from 2002 to 2004, and ambassador to Israel from 1996 to 2002.[3]

Biography
She was born on 26 February 1953 in the West of Kazakhstan region. She graduated from the Oral Pedagogical Institute named after A.S. Pushkin with a specialty of teachers of English language, also a faculty of law at Kazakh State National University named after Al-Farabi with a specialty of lawyers. After graduating from the institute in 1974–1976, she worked as a teacher at a secondary school in the Ural Region, then, in 1976–1979, she was a secretary of the Komsomol committee of the state farm, head of the sector, and head of a department of the Ural Regional Committee of the Young Communist League of Kazakhstan.
She was elected the first secretary of the Oral city committee of the Komsomol of Kazakhstan in 1979, and in 1981 – the first secretary of the Ural regional committee of the Komsomol of Kazakhstan.
Career
In 1983 – Secretary of the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Kazakhstan.
From 1987 to 1990 – Deputy chairman of the board of the Kazakh branch of the Soviet Children's Fund.
In 1990-1993, she worked as the chairman of the Committee of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Youth Affairs.
In 1993–1996 – Minister for Youth, Tourism and Sports.
In January – October 1996 – Member of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From October 1996 – the ambassador of Kazakhstan of Israel, then – Italy.
Since 14 May 2004 – Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Since 13 December 2004 – Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Since February 2007 – appointed Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations.
In the same year, she became the ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Cuba[6]
On 26 August 2013, she was relieved of the posts of the Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the UN and the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Cuba concurrently and was appointed deputy of the Senate.[7]
12 August 2019 – by the decree of the head of state Kassymzhomart Tokayev, the powers of the deputy of the Senate of the Parliament Byrganim Aitimova were terminated.
1 October 2019 – elected to the position of Deputy Chairman of the Council of Senators.[8]

Criticism
Shee is criticized for expressing condemnation of young people who came to the square in December 1986 when she was secretary of the Central Committee of the Komsomol of the Kazakh SSR. Aitimova then claimed that most students sharply discuss the hooligan actions of individual young people of nationalist mood, believe that they cannot represent interests and speak on behalf of the entire student body of the city.[9]
