Brieuc Vourch
Brieuc Vourch (born in 1995) is a French classical violinist. He was born in Paris and started playing the violin at the age of 3. Having studied with many prestigious violinists including Itzhak Perlman, Vourch now plays at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and has won various awards.
Career
At the age of thirteen he auditioned for Maestro Louis Langrée with the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto and moved to America to study with Itzhak Perlman at The Juilliard School and with Aaron Rosand. He came back to Europe in 2014 to study with Boris Kuschnir in Vienna. At the same time, he also studied with Rainer Küchl, former concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic.
During his formation, Brieuc received guidance of Frank Peter Zimmermann, Thomas Brandis, Lukas Hagen, Glenn Dicterow, Volkhard Steude and David Kim. He joined acclaimed singer Philippe Jaroussky’s academy in Paris during the 2017/2018 season where he benefited from Philippe Jaroussky’s wisdom and coaching. The latter said, "Brieuc Vourch has a great ability to convey his feelings and thoughts to the audience and I have been very impressed by the precise technical quality and musical coherence of his playing".
Heralded by the legendary violinist Itzhak Perlman as "a strong player with a great deal of temperament as well as sensitivity", Brieuc has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concerts halls, from the Shanghai Grand Theatre to the Alice Tully Hall in New-York, the Château de Versailles or the Seine Musicale in Paris. As a chamber musician, soloist and concertmaster, Brieuc has shared the stage with Roman Simovic, Svetlin Roussev, Mihaela Martin, Nobuko Imai, Raphaël Pidoux, Jérôme Pernoo, Santiago Cañón Valencia, Ingmar Lazar, José Gallardo, Mojca Erdmann, Guillaume Vincent, Tanja Tetzlaff, Frans Helmerson, Mathieu Herzog, Jérôme Ducros, Elias Grandy, the Hanson Quartet and the Ensemble Appassionato. He has been invited by some of today’s most prestigious festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Germany, the Hantang International Music Festival in China or the Deauville Music Festival and the Roque d’Anthéron International Music Festival in France. In 2020, he was selected by Leonidas Kavakos to attend the 2020 Leonidas Kavakos International Masterclasses in Athens, Greece.
Awards and achievements
Brieuc is laureate of the Zilber-Rampal Foundation, the Safran Foundation for Music in Paris, the Concordia Foundation for the Arts and the Beares International Violin Society in London as well as scholarship recipient of the Villecroze Music Academy and Verbier Festival Academy. Brieuc is prize winner of the Adelphi Chamber Orchestra Young Artists Competition in the United States, the Anton Rubinstein International Violin Competition in Germany, the Rhodes International Music Festival Competition in Greece, and of the Maurice Ravel International Music Academy in France. Brieuc was selected among hundreds of applicants to take part in the 2019 Queen Elizabeth International Violin Competition in Belgium and in the 2019 Fritz Kreisler International Violin Competition in Austria and was one of the three finalists of the 2019[New York City Concert Artists Worldwide Debuts Auditions in the United-States. In 2019, Brieuc was named Hantang Culture Young Artist in China, Écoréseau Magazine Award 2019 winner for outstanding accomplishment in France, and appointed co-concertmaster of the Heidelberg Philharmonisches Orchester in Germany for the 2019/2020 concert season.
Instrument
He performs on a Francesco Ruggeri violin made in 1690 and a bow by Nicolas Maire.
