Bill Owens (Massachusetts politician)
William Owens (born July 6, 1937) is an American politician and businessman. He was the first Black state senator in the Massachusetts State Senate.[1][2]

Owens was born in Demopolis, Alabama and is an African-American. He went to the English High School of Boston. Owens also went to Boston University, Harvard University and University of Massachusetts Amherst. Owens was a private consultant and lived in Mattapan, Boston, Massachusetts. Owens served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, in 1973 and 1974, and was a Democrat. He then served in the Massachusetts Senate from 1975 to 1982 and from 1989 to 1992.[3][4]
