History

Asonance was founded at Jan Neruda Grammar School in Prague, Czechoslovakia, in late 1976. Early members of the group include Jan and Pavel Lašťovička, Milan Štěrba, and František Korecký. They began by playing Scottish and Irish folk and country songs.

1977

Eva Fibingerová-Schneiderová and Denisa Vondráčková joined the band as vocalists, and Denisa also played guitar. Eva left the band in 1978.

1978

Blanka Štejfová (later Lašťovičková) came as a replacement for Eva Fibingerová-Schneiderová. The band won second place in the music contest "Písně dlouhejch cest 1978/79".

1980-1985

In 1980, Petr Vacek joined the vocal section of the band, but he left in 1984 in order to emigrate to the USA. In 1985, Roman Slaboch replaced him. 1990 saw Vacek returning from abroad and re-joining the band.

Other musicians who joined the band at this time include Renata Bělorová, Yveta Kasalická, Veronika Glyknerová, Alena Charvátová, and Vendula Hugová together with her husband Jan Hugo. In 1982, Jan Ráb joined the band and added Irish melodies with his violin.

1985-1990

Second violinist Jiří Nohel joined the band at this juncture. The twin violins became a trademark of the band. In 1985, Marta Fiklíková (later Nollová) joined together with her wife. The band added a double bass, bass guitar, and keyboards. Significantly for the band, future frontman Luboš Pick joined around this time as well. In 1989, Asonance added Mirko Rokyta on keyboards.

1990 - 2013

Asonance replaced their lead singer with Petr Bohuslav, and drummer Aleš Zimolka also played with the band until his death in 2012 from a car crash. He was replaced by David Růžička. The band also enlisted the whistle player and vocalist Klára Lašťovičková, as well as additional whistle players Anna Rábová and Anežka Kufová.
