Anand Bhawan School

Anand Bhawan is a minority (catholic) educational institution situated in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, India, founded in 1949 by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lucknow and run by the Institute of the Maids of the Poor, a religious and charitable society.[1] The institution has been fulfilling the educational needs of the city for more than 60 years. Not only the school lays great emphasis on spoken English and co-curricular activities but also on building a sound moral character in the pupils along with imbibing the values of discipline and kindness in them.[2][3] Anand Bhawan is also a generalate.[1][4]

The institute is configured of two educational wings (apart from the vocational training institute):[5]

The school has an enrollment of about 1800 students and takes the services of about 70 teachers and 20 supporting staff.

Anand Bhawan Alumni Association

The school also has its Alumni Association by the name - Anand Bhawan Alumni Association ( AAA ) formulated in 2010 which successfully organized one of the biggest events of the city till date- Refussion in the years 2010 and 2011.

Headscarf controversy

In November 2017, the school barred two Muslim students from wearing a headscarf to class and told their parents to get their children admitted to Islamic schools (Madrasas) if they want to continue the practice.[6]
