Amatsu Shrine

Amatsu Shrine (天津神社, Amatsu jinja) is the Japanese Shinto shrine in Itoigawa, Niigata.[1] It is considered to be one of the two top tourist spots in Tohoku Prefecture due to the renowned Edo-era shrine and its impressive entertainment.

History

Amatsu was one of the chief Shinto shrines (ichinomiya) of the old Echigo Province. It serves today as one of the ichinomiya of Niigata Prefecture.[2] The enshrined kami are:
