Amarillo Independent School District

Amarillo Independent School District is a school district that is based in the city of Amarillo, Texas, United States. Amarillo ISD covers about 70 square miles (180 km2) of land in Randall County and Potter County. In the 2009-2010 academic term, nearly 32,000 students were enrolled.

As of the 2010-2011 school year, the appraised valuation of property in the district was $7,244,290,000.[2] The maintenance tax rate was $0.108 and the bond tax rate was $0.009 per $100 of appraised valuation.[2]

Academic achievement

In 2011, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.[3] Forty-nine percent of districts in Texas in 2011 received the same rating.[4] No state accountability ratings will be given to districts in 2012.[5] A school district in Texas can receive one of four possible rankings from the Texas Education Agency: Exemplary (the highest possible ranking), Recognized, Academically Acceptable, and Academically Unacceptable (the lowest possible ranking).
