Alfred's blind skink

Alfred's blind skink, Alfred's dibamid lizard,[1][2] Alfred's limbless skink, or Taylor's limbless skink[3] (Dibamus alfredi) is a species of blind lizards in the family Dibamidae. The species is endemic to Southeast Asia.[1][2]

Related species

Another species of Dibamus once had been referred to as Alfred's blind skink, but is now a separate species, Dibamus dezwaani.[4]

Alfred's blind skink is known with certainty only from Peninsular Thailand. Records from Sabah in Malaysian Borneo represent Dibamus vorisi.[1] The Nias (Indonesia) record represents Dibamus dezwaani.[4]

D. alfredi can be found in monsoonal evergreen forests and mixed dipterocarp forests at altitudes and lives in humus or leaf litter.[1]

D. alfredi is named after ichthyologist Eric R. Alfred,[2][3] who was the director of the Raffles Museum in Singapore (1967–1972).[2][3][5]
