Personal life

Aamir Tameem was born in Hyderabad, India.

Early career (2004–2007)

Tameem started his career in 2004 by joining Samahaara theatre group founded by Rathna Shekar Reddy and Anjali Parvati Koda. He was with the group for three years while completing his studies in commerce from Bhavans Vivekananda College. Alongside, he was selected to be an event organizer with The Times of India's Youth Fest "Youthopia 07". In the same year, Tameem was selected as the Google campus ambassador and was consecutively selected for the next year too. Tameem is said to be the only ambassador to have served the post for two consecutive years with Google pan-India.

Breakthrough (2008–2009)

While with the same theatre group, Tameem got a chance to meet Chandra Sekhar Yeleti while he was casting for Prayanam. It is said that Tameem had no clue about Chandra Sekhar Yeleti and was very casual about the Telugu film industry. And that's what worked in his favour. Chandra Sekhar Yeleti decided to cast Tameem for the sheer confidence and happy-go-lucky attitude. It is also said that Tameem had to go through more than 100 dress rehearsals and had to grow his hair for over 11 months just to get the right look. It is said that it was Tameem who suggested to get his hair curled up for the movie when no other look was looking good.

Tameem shot for Prayanam for 45 days in Kuala Lumpur all through November and December 2008. Prayanam released on 29 May 2009 and Tameem won many accolades for his role. It is rumoured that Tameem received more than 13 film offers within the first week of release of Prayanam.[4][5]

Later career (2009–2011)

Tameem later signed Gangaraju Gunnam's Katha along with Genelia D'Souza and Prakash Raj where he did a small role. It released in the month of December 2009.

He later was signed for Ram Gopal Varma's comeback Telugu film Katha Screenplay Darshakatvam Appalaraju in 2010.

Sabbatical from films

Tameem took a break from movies and took up Masters in Communication at Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication, Pune, India. He specialised in film and television content generation.

Echo

In 2009, Tameem set-up his own performing arts company "Echo". He went on to direct one of Hyderabad's most expensive plays "Jahanaara" and conceptualised shows in association with Coke Studio (Pakistan).[6]
